WARNING: RISK OF THYROID C-CELL TUMORS

In rodent studies, tirzepatide caused thyroid C-cell tumors. It is unknown whether Zepbound causes these tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), in humans. Zepbound is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of MTC or in patients with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Clinical Considerations

• Titration Purpose: The 2.5 mg dose is intended as a 4-week starting dose to allow for physiological adaptation. It is generally not considered a therapeutic maintenance dose for long-term weight management.

• Gastrointestinal Tolerance: Monitor patients for nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea during the initial weeks of treatment.

• KwikPen Usage: Unlike single-dose pens, the KwikPen requires users to dial the dose and attach a new needle for each injection. Proper training on needle attachment and priming the pen is essential to ensure accurate dosing.
